The latest editions of Titled Tuesday events took place on 7th May on Chess.com.

The popular chess streamer GM Minh Le from Vietnam claimed a victory in the Early Titled Tuesday after edging Nihal Sarin and Jan-Krzysztof Duda on tie-breaks. The three players finished on 9.5/11 points each.

Magnus Carlsen was the sole winner of the Late Titled Tuesday with 9.5/11 points, leaving a huge group of players half a point behind.

Titled Tuesday (TT) is Chess.com’s weekly 11-round Swiss tournament for titled players, occurring twice each Tuesday at 8 a.m. PT and 2 p.m. PT. The time control is 3 min + 1 sec.

The total prize fund for the day is USD 5000, with USD 1000 dedicated to the winner of each event.

The participation was massive, with 717 players in the Early and 524 in the Late event.

In the Early TT Minh Le was leading throughout the event until the loss to Nihal Sarin in the penultimate round jeopardized his chances to claim the first prize.

However, in the last round Nihal was held to a draw Bogdan Daniel Deac, allowing Minh Le and Jan-Krzysztof Duda to catch up on the top. Minh Le had the best tiebreak among the three.

In the Late TT Magnus Carlsen abandoned the goofy Viih_Sou Gambit that he was trying in the Early edition and this immediately bore result. After a mid-event loss to Leinier Dominguez Perez and a draw with Luca Moroni, Carlsen picked up a pace and scored four consecutive victories, including a beautiful rook ending against his arch-rival Hikaru Nakamura in the final round.

Exactly this win vs Nakamura propelled Carlsen ahead of the American to claim a clear first place with 9,5 points. Second place is a huge tie of nine players with 9 points each, with Aleksei Sarana being 2nd on tiebreaks, and Hikaru Nakamura being third.
