The Grenke Chess Open 2024 is taking place from 28 March – 1 April in Karlsruhe, Germany. The event is played in the same venue as the Grenke Chess Classic 2024 which gathers six world class players including five-time World Champion Magnus Carlsen.
Nearly 2800 players compete in Open A, Open B and Open C, and the total prize fund of the events is 70.000 eur, with 20.000 eur reserved for the Winner of the Open A. The event is played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with the time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves + 15 minutes till the end of the game, with 30-second increment per each move starting from the move one.
