Grenke Chess Classic is back after five years with a spectacular field headlined by five-time World Champion Magnus Carlsen! The event takes place from 26 March – 1 April, as a 6-player double round-robin, with two 45-minute games played each day. Along with Magnus Carlsen, the event includes Ding Liren, Vincent Keymer, Richard Rapport, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and Daniel Fridman.
After the first four rounds, Richard Rapport emerged as the sole leader scoring 3 points. He is followed by Ding Liren, Magnus Carlsen and Vincent Keymer who tie for second with 2 points. The fifth and the sixth rounds are on the schedule today and the pairings are shown below. Today is also the first day of the Grenke Chess Open 2024 which gathers nearly 2800 players who compete in the same venue as the Classic’s participants.
