The 21st Bangkok Chess Club Open 2024 is scheduled to take place from 13-21 April 2024 at the beautiful Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa in Bangkok, Thailand.
The event consists of two sections:
– Open for players with a FIDE rating 1800 or above
– Challenger for players rated below 2000 or unrated
Both groups will be played over 9 rounds of Swiss System. The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30min for the rest of the game. There is a 30-second increment from move one.
The 21st BCC Open is financially supported by FIDE Open Aid Project. The total prize fund for the tournament is 580,000 baht (16,000 USD), with 100,000 baht (2750 USD) dedicated for the winner.
There are also prizes for players finishing in top 10, for 5 best players from the Thailand Chess Association, for Best Ladies and for Best Seniors.
The Open section has a great turnover with 250 players from 39 federations. Among them are 20 Grandmasters and 37 International Masters. The Challenger group has 96 participants from 25 federations.
