The Chilean Women’s Chess Championship 2024 took place from 12-17 February in Santiago. The event gathered 25 players, and was played in 9 rounds, with the total prize fund of 1.830.000 Chilean pesos (~ 1,870 USD).
WIM Valentina Paz Jorquera Cabello (1982) emerged as the sole Winner of the event scoring 6.5 points. She was half a point ahead of three players who tied for second place with the score of 6 points (each). Winning the event, Valentina Paz qualified for the Chilean National Women’s team for the Chess Olympiad 2024, and earned the money prize of 500.000 Chilean pesos (~ 500 USD).
WCM Monserrat Morales Flores (1941) had the best tiebreaks to clinch silver, Rocio Antonella Contreras Suazo (1662) won bronze, and Valeska Rozas Lazcano (1676) came fourth. Final rankings can be found below
