The 1st Melbourne International Chess Open 2024 is set to take place from 3-7th April at the city’s Chess Club, 66 Leicester St, Fitzroy, in Melbourne, Australia.

The event is organized by the Independent Chess Australia and the Melbourne Chess Club and is taking place immediately after the Doeberl Cup in Canberra.

The event will have two sections, the Major section for players rated over 2000, and the Open section with no rating restrictions.

Both the Major and Open sections will be 9 rounds with a time control of 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move. Both sections will be ACF and FIDE rated.

The total prize fund will be approximately $15,000.
