Magnus Carlsen takes sole lead in the Grenke Chess Classic 2024

Five-time World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen emerged as the sole leader of the Grenke Chess Classic 2024 after six played rounds!

After starting the tournament with a loss to Richard Rapport, Magnus bounced back defeating Daniel Fridman in the second round. Two solid games during day two finished in a draw, while the third day went perfectly for Carlsen as he prevailed against Vincent Keymer and took revenge against Richard Rapport. Scoring 4/6 points, Magnus is a full point ahead of Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Richard Rapport and Ding Liren.

Today is the free day at the Grenke Chess Classic, and the players will be back in the office tomorrow (Saturday, 30th of March). Live games can be followed here and live video broadcast is available on the following link.
