WCM Elif Zeren Yildiz wins Turkish Women’s Chess Championship 2024

The Turkish Women’s Chess Championship 2024 concluded today in Gaziantep, after nine rounds played over the course of seven days. The event gathered 70 players who competed for the National champion title and the prize pool of 250.000 Turkish liras (~7.300 euros).

A tight competition finished with four players tying for the first place with the score of 7 points; WCM Ceren Tirpan, WCM Elif Zeren Yildiz, WFM Yulia Gokbulut, and WFM Sude Hereklioglu. 16-year-old Elif Zeren Yildiz emerged Winner of the event and clinched the title, Sude Hereklioglu finished second and Ceren Tirpan and Yulia Gokbulut shared the third place. The Turkish Women’s Chess Championship 2024 took place from 3-9 March, with the sponsorship of Arzum. International Women’s Day was celebrated and marked during the event, and the awarding ceremony took place a day after.
