Universal Chess Open 2024 with $100,000 in prizes!

The Universal Chess Open 2024 is set to take place from 20-23 June 2024 at the NYTEX Sports Centre, Dallas, Texas. The event will be played in 7 sections: Championship, 2000-2199 USCF section, 1800-1999 USCF section, 1600-1799 USDC section, 1400-1599 USCF section, 1200-1399 USCF section, and U1200 USCF section. The total prize fund of the events is $100,000 and the Winner of the Championship group will pocket a money-prize of $10,000!

It will be a 6-round tournament, swiss non-elimination system, with the time control of 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment. Besides the Open tournaments within 7 rating categories, the accompanying events will feature a super grandmasters match between Vidit Santosh Gujrathi (India, 2747) and Hans Niemann (USA, 2676), as well as the Celebrities chess tournament.

The NYTEX Sports Centre can accommodate up to 3000 visitors who can follow the chess spectacle from the stadium seats. The participants of the Open tournament will get the tickets for free. The distribution of prizes for the Universal Chess Open 2024 tournaments:

  • Championship: $10000-4000-2000-1200-1000-800, top FIDE Under 2300: $2000-1000
  • 2000-2199: $7000-3000-2000-1200-800-500
  • 1800-1999: $6000-2500-2000-1200-800-500
  • 1600-1799: $6000-2500-2000-1200-800-500
  • 1400-1599: $6000-2500-2000-1200-800-500
  • 1200-1399: $5000-2000-1500-1200-800-500
  • U1200: $5000-2000-1200-800-500

Six grandmasters already registered for the Championship tournament: GM Mikhail Antipov (FIDE, 2573), GM Viktor Matviishen (Ukraine, 2561), GM Sam Khanin (FIDE, 2564), GM Robby Kevlishvili (Netherlands, 2524), GM Lucas Van Foreest (Netherlands, 2516) and GM Harshit Raja (India, 2458).
