Freestyle Chess is coming to screens across North America through an exciting new partnership with the sports and gaming network Game+, bringing world-class Freestyle Chess coverage to 3.5 million households across Canada and the United States.
Freestyle Chess launches on Game+ in December 2026 with exclusive highlights from Freestyle Chess Grand Slam 2025, and the inaugural FIDE Freestyle Chess World Championship 2026 held in Weissenhaus, Germany.
Additionally, Game+ coverage includes a slate of documentaries taking viewers behind the scenes with the world’s top players; as well as a bold second phase which will see the partnership expand to live broadcasts of highly anticipated Freestyle Chess tournaments.
Game+ is available on major cable outlets and digital platforms, and Game+ content can also be enjoyed on the Network’s official YouTube channel.
“Freestyle Chess turns elite chess into pure competition: no memorized openings, just creativity and skill from move one,” said Freestyle Chess CEO Dr. Andreas Walker. “Game+ speaks to a young, digital-first audience that loves fast-paced action, which makes it the ideal partner to bring Freestyle Chess to North America, with live tournaments as our next step.”
“Freestyle Chess is a truly dynamic format that completely redefines the traditional view of the sport, putting a fresh and unique spin on gameplay, with added emphasis on strategy and wit,” said Chad Midgley, VP of Content for Anthem Sports Group. “Matches are exciting and tense, with highly skilled players and personalities that our audience will love. We are pleased to welcome Freestyle Chess to the Game+ family and look forward to sharing their action-packed coverage with our viewers later this month.”
