GM Daniel Dardha clinches Djerba Chess Masters 2024

GM Daniel Dardha emerged as the Winner of the Djerba Chess Masters 2024 which concluded today in Tunisia.

Scoring unbeaten 4.5/7 points, GM Daniel Dardha (Belgium, 2621) tied for the top with GM Hans Niemann (USA, 2675). The first tiebreaker didn’t decide the Winner, as the players played a draw in a direct encounter, but Dardha had better Sonneborn Berger tiebreak to clinch the championship. With the score of 4 points, each, GM Marc’Andria Maurizzi (France, 2597) and GM Vasyl Ivanchuk (Ukraine, 2623) tied for third place. Final standings can be found below

Simultaneously with the Masters event, Djerba hosted three Open tournaments. IM Benjamin Defromont (France 2396) and WIM Michalina Rudzinska (Poland, 2241) tied for first in the Open A, scoring 7.5 points each. Benjamin Defromont had better tiebreaks to finish first, and WIM Michalina Rudzinska came second. Final standings of the Open A can be found at the bottom of the article.
