GM Lorenzo Lodici wins Kragero Chess Open 2024

The 7th edition of the Kragero Chess Open concluded today in the Norwegian Kragero Resort. The event was played in 9 rounds, swiss system, and the main Title group gathered more than 85 players who competed for the prize fund of more than 100.000 NOK (~9.000 euros).

GM Lorenzo Lodici (Italy, 2554) emerged as the Winner of the event with the score of 7 points. Heading into the last round, Lorenzo Lodici was one of four tiers for the top, but he was the only one to win the final game. Lodici pocketed a money prize of 25.000 NOK (~2.200 euros) and finished half a point ahead of the group of four runner-ups. IM Dragos Ceres (Moldavia, 2465) had the best tiebreak criteria and came second, GM Titas Stremavicius (Lithuania, 2534) was third, GM Maxime Lagarde (France, 2631) finished the event in the fourth place, and GM Emin Ohayan (Armenia, 2468) came fifth.

IM Marsel Efroimski (Israel, 2449) was the best-ranked female player in the field with the score of 6/9 points. 14-year-old WGM Lu Miaoyi (China, 2369) showed impressive play and finished the event with 5.5 points. Paired with her mom WGM Yuanyuan Xu (China, 2292) in the last round, Lu Miaoyi scored an important victory to earn her third IM norm and become an International master at the age of 14.
