56th Capablanca Memorial in Havana, Cuba

The 56th edition of the Capablanca Memorial will be held from 3rd-12th May 2023 in Havana, Cuba. The event features five tournaments: Elite, Open, Senior, U16 and U12.

The Elite group is headlined by GM Eduardo Iturrizaga Bonelli (Spain, 2637), and will be played as a 10-player round-robin competition with the total prize fund of 2.650 EUR. The list of players includes GM Raunak Sadhwani (India, 2627), GM Rasmus Svane (Germany, 2621), GM Jonas Buhl Bjerre (Denmark, 2606), GM Alexandr Fier (Brazil, 2599), GM Carlos Daniel Albornoz Cabrera (Cuba, 2586), GM Luis Ernesto Quesada Perez (Cuba, 2562), GM Lelys Stanley Martinez Duany (Cuba, 2531), GM Omar Almeida Quintana (Cuba, 2526), and GM Elier Miranda Mesa (Cuba, 2515).

Concurrently with the Elite tournament, the Capablanca Open 2023 will be held with participation of more than 100 players coming from 20 countries. The top seeds are: GM Jose Fernando Cuenca Jimenez (Spain, 2553), GM Mohd Al-Mudahka (Qatar, 2542) and GM Renier Vazquez Igarza (Spain, 2533). Complete starting list of players can be seen below

The total prize fund of the Open tournament amounts to 3.500 EUR, with 800 EUR reserved for the winner.
