The World Chess Championship Match between the defending Champion Ding Liren and the Challenger Gukesh D is set to take place from 23rd November to 15th December in Singapore.
The Singapore Chess Federation (SCF) has announced today that the playing venue will be at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).
โWe are privileged to partner RWS in hosting the Championship, and we look forward to witnessing the intricacies of this match unfold against the backdrop of an exceptional integrated resort,โ said Mr Kevin Goh, SCF CEO and Chair of the Local Organising Committee.
He told The Straits Times: โCertainly we do plan to organise side events such as masterclasses, exhibition matches and meet-and-greet (sessions) with certain world-class chess grandmasters.
โIf weโre lucky, we can get former world chess champions to come as well, so definitely these are some things weโre planning. There will also be a couple of side tournaments such as the Singapore National Age Group Chess Championships โ thatโs the most prestigious age-group competition we have โ and the Singapore International Open.โ
