The 86th edition of the Tata Steel Chess is taking place from 12-28 January in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands.
The Masters event features 14 super grandmasters who will compete in a 13-round round-robin tournament. The field is led by the reigning World Chess Champion GM Ding Liren, World Championship Challenger GM Ian Nepomniachtchi and GM Alireza Firouzja. World No 10 GM Anish Giri will defend the title this year after winning his first Tata Steel Chess crown in 2023. Live games from the 2024 Tata Steel Masters can be followed here.
Wijk aan Zee simultaneously hosts the Tata Steel Chess Challengers tournament. The field consists of a mix of established players and promising young talents and the top seeds are: GM Anton Korobov (UKR, 2667), GM Hans Niemann (USA, 2659), and GM Mustafa Yilmaz (TUR, 2650).
