Tan Zhongyi maintained the sole leadership in the FIDE Women’s Candidates 2024 after defeating Anna Muzychuk in yesterday’s sixth round of the event.
Playing white, Tan Zhongyi developed a tremendous mating attack with lots of sacrifices! It seemed that there’s no defense for Muzychuk, but Tan Zhongyi made a mistake and the evaluation bar went to equal!

Unfortunately, Anna Muzychuk missed her chance to escape and Tan Zhongyi capitalized with important victory.
Aleksandra Goryachkina kept her clear second place after defeating Nurgyul Salimova. Trailing by half a point, Aleksandra Goryachkina closely follows the sole leader.

Goryachkina was pressing for a win since the early stage of the game. She won a pawn, but Nurgyul had some chances for a draw. Practically speaking, the position was tough, and Salimova cracked under pressure, allowing Goryachkina to score a full point.
