Aleksandar Indjic wins European Chess Championship 2024

The 2024 European Individual Chess Championship concluded in Petrovac, Montegro.

GM Aleksandar Indjic (SRB, 2623) emerged as the sole Winner of the tournament scoring unbeaten 9/11 points. GM Daniel Dardha (BEL, 2606) came second with 8.5/11 points, and GM Frederik Svane (GER, 2654) won bronze.

In a last-round direct encounter for the first place, Aleksandar Indjic drew with black against GM Daniel Dardha (BEL, 2606), secured sole first place, and clinched his maiden title.

GM Daniel Dardha was in chance for gold and tried to push for a win, but eventually finished the event with 8.5 points winning the silver medal.

As many as 11 players tied for bronze scoring 8 points each: GM Bogdan-Daniel Deac (ROU, 2687), GM Frederik Svane (GER, 2654), GM Daniil Yuffa (ESP, 2631), GM Ivan Cheparinov (BUL, 2632), GM Velimir Ivic (SRB, 2622), GM Robert Hovhannisyan (ARM, 2613), GM Mateusz Bartel (POL, 2613), GM Maksim Chiagev (ESP, 2605) GM Constantin Lupulescu (ROU, 2591), GM Piorun Kacper (POL, 2580), and GM Alexander Motylev (ROU, 2577).

GM Frederik Svane (GER, 2654) had the best tiebreak criteria to clinch bronze medal.

IM Teodora Injac (SRB, 2429) was the best ranked female player in the event with the score of 6.5 points and better tiebreaks than WFM Dana Kochavi (ISR, 2166) who had the same score. WIM Sofia Pogorelskikh (SRB, 2252) was third with 6 points.

GM Ihor Samunenkov (UKR, 2523) was the best ranked Junior in the event with 7 points and better tiebreaks than FM Erik Gasparyan (ARM, 2371). GM Yahli Sokolovsky (ISR, 2516) was third with 6.5 points.

GM Valeriy Neverov (UKR, 2401) was the best ranked Senior with 7 points, GM Vasyl Ivanchuk (UKR, 2640) was second with the same score but lower tiebreaks, and GM Michele Godena (ITA, 2419) was third with 6 points.
