The Lewis Chess Legends Open 2024 took place from 6-14th August at the legendary Archbishop’s Palace in Trondheim, Norway.

The event was organized by the Hell Chess Club with the aim to spread knowledge about the Lewis Chess-pieces’ and its connection to the Nidaros Cathedral and the Archbishop’s Palace.

Swedish IM Jung Min Seo emerged clear tournament winner after the furious finish with four consecutive victories. He completed the event with 7/9 points, half a point ahead of Norwegian Grandmasters Hammer and Amar. He missed the GM norm because, despite achieving necessary rating performance, he didn’t play 3 Grandmasters in the course of the tournament.

The event followed the prize distribution proposed by the Norway Chess tournament – equal prizes for men and women. Therefore, of the 30.000 EUR prize fund, the top prizes for both men and women were: 2500โ‚ฌ/2000โ‚ฌ/1500โ‚ฌ/1000โ‚ฌ/900โ‚ฌ/800โ‚ฌ/700โ‚ฌ/600โ‚ฌ/500โ‚ฌ/400โ‚ฌ.

The top woman is legendary GM Pia Cramling 2437 SWE with 5.5/9 points.
