The Candidates Tournament 2024 officially kicks off tomorrow with the first round and most of the players and their seconds have arrived in Toronto, Canada!
World No3 Hikaru Nakamura is already in Toronto, and his final preparation for the event was a live stream of chess.com’s Titled Tuesday! Nakamura emerged as the winner of the Early Titled Tuesday thanks to better tiebreak criteria than Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Levan Pantsulaia and Gata Kamsky who had the same score of 9.5 points. Competing in the Late Titled Tuesday, Hikaru scored 9 points and finished the event in the fourth position, while Andrew Hong scored 10 points to emerge as the sole winner of the tournament. Tournament standings
