The 55th edition of the Ladies Grandmasters Belgrade Tournament kicks off tomorrow in the Serbian capital and takes place from 2-10 March in the famous Mathematical Gymnasium.
It will be a 10-player round-robin tournament with a strong field with rating average of 2268. 14-year-old WGM Lu Miaoyi (China, 2392) is the top-seeded player in the tournament. Showing great play and performance at the recently concluded Sevilla Chess Open 2024 and Kragero Chess Open 2024 (where she won the final IM norm and qualified for the IM title), Lu Miaoyi is the main favourite to win the event.

Aged only 14, Lu Miaoyi is not the youngest player in the field, as 12-year-old Serbian prodigy WFM Vera Vujovic (Serbia, 2175) confirmed her participation. Just a month ago, the 12-year-old won the Serbian National Semifinals and improved her rating for more than 50 points. The line-up includes IM Aleksandra Maltsevskaya (Poland, 2374), IM Bhakti Kulkarni (India, 2372), WGM Yuanyuan Xu (China, 2288), WIM Anna Kubicka (Poland, 2278), WGM Evgeniya Doluhanova (Ukraine, 2261), WIM Sofia Pogorelskikh (Serbia, 2214), WFM Elif Mehmed (Serbia, 2194) and WIM Sandra Djukic (Serbia, 2127).
