GM Platon Galperin wins Norway Chess Open 2023

The 2023 Norway Chess Open took place from May 27 – June 3 simultaneously with the super-tournament Norway Chess at the Clarion Hotel Energy in Stavanger, Norway. The event was played in 10 rounds, swiss system, with a total prize fund of 8.200 euros.

GM Platon Galperin (Sweden, 2528) emerged as the sole winner of the event scoring impressive 8/10 points and pocketed the money-prize of 3.000 eur. As many as five players tied for second place with 7 points (each): IM Pawel Teclaf (Poland, 2575), GM Vitaly Sivuk (Ukraine, 2489), 14-year-old FM Aksel Bu Kvaloy (Norway, 2321) who secured the IM norm after 8 rounds and extended his first GM norm, 16-year-old WIM Shri B Savitha (India, 2418) who was also the best female player in the tournament and took her fourth WGM norm and her second IM norm, and finally, GM Konstantin Tarlev (Ukraine, 2598).
