Vladimir Fedoseev wins Sunway Formentera Chess Festival 2023

The 2nd edition of the Sunway Formentera International Chess Festival took place from 18-28 April at the Hotel Club Sunway Punta Prima in Spain. The event was played in 10 rounds, swiss system, featuring the total prize fund of 14.500 euros, with 3.000 euros reserved for the Winner of the event.

After 10 played rounds, four players tied for the top scoring 7 points each: GM Vladimir Fedoseev, GM Venkataraman Karthik, GM Pranav V and GM Leon Luke Mendonca. According to the regulations of the tournament, the Winner of the event and the medalists were determined in the tiebreak matches. On his way to the title, Vladimir Fedoseev faced Venkataraman Karthik in the final playoff match which went all way long to the Armageddon. Winning the final match, Fedoseev clinched his first Open tournament after six years.
