Dommaraju Gukesh is unstoppable at the 45th Chess Olympiad! Scoring incredible 5.5/6 points, Gukesh leads the scoreboard for the best individual results, performs with 3054 rating and earns 16.2 ELO points to be World Number 5 on the live rating list.
India faced China in today’s 7th round of the 2024 Chess Olympiad, trying to continue the winning streak. And they did it successfully! With three draws on the last three boards, all eyes were on the World Chess Championship Challenger Gukesh D and Wei Yi who played instead of Ding Liren today. The position was objectively drawish, but Gukesh squeezed water from a stone and scored the decisive point for India!
India now remains in the sole lead, as the only team in the tournament with all wins and perfect score of 14 match points. Iran is following with 13 match points, while Uzbekistan, Hungary, Serbia and Armenia score 12 match points tying for third.
The 8th round brings clash between Iran and India on the top board, Hungary goes against Armenia, Serbia will face Uzbekistan.
