Theย 86th edition of the Tata Steel Chessย is taking place from 12-28 January in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands.
The Masters event features 14 super grandmasters who will compete in a 13-round round-robin tournament.ย The field is led by the reigning World Chess Championย GM Ding Liren, World Championship Challengerย GM Ian Nepomniachtchiย andย GM Alireza Firouzja. World No 10ย GM Anish Giri will defend the title this yearย after winning his first Tata Steel Chess crown in 2023. Live games from the 2024 Tata Steel Masters can be followed here.
Wijk aan Zee simultaneously hosts the Tata Steel Chess Challengers tournament.ย The field consists of a mix of established players and promising young talents and the top seeds are:ย GM Anton Korobov (UKR, 2667),ย GM Hans Niemann (USA, 2659), andย GM Mustafa Yilmaz (TUR, 2650).
