Pranav V and Magnus Carlsen win Early/Late Titled Tuesday

The latest editions of Titled Tuesday events took place on 19th March on Chess.com.

Indian rising star Pranav V emerged clear winner of the Early Titled Tuesday with 10/11 points.

Magnus Carlsen won the Late Titled Tuesday with 9,5/11 points, but only after edging the Chinese GM Xu Xiangyu on second tiebreak.

Titled Tuesday (TT) is Chess.com’s weekly 11-round Swiss tournament for titled players, occurring twice each Tuesday at 8 a.m. PT and 2 p.m. PT. The time control is 3 min + 1 sec.

The total prize fund for the day is USD 5000, with USD 1000 dedicated to the winner of each event.

The participation was massive, with 656 players in the Early and 579 in the Late event.

In the Early TT Pranav V suffered his only loss in round 5, and then a series of six consecutive wins, include those against Hikaru Nakamura and Denis Lazavik, lifted him to the top of the table.

In the Late TT, Magnus Carlsen, Xu Xiangyu and Arjun Erigaisi shared the first place with 9,5/11 points each. Erigaisi had the weakest first tiebreak ending up on the third place. However, Carlsen and Xu, who were neck to neck in almost entire tournament, had the same first tiebreak score, and only on the second tiebreak did Carlsen edge Xu by a narrowest margin of half a point.
