Montenegro Chess Championship 2024 to kick off in Podgorica

The Montenegro Chess Championship 2024 will kick off today in Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Montenegro Chess Federation. The event will be played from 6-15 February 2024, in 11 rounds, swiss system, with a historical prize fund of 15.000 euros!

More than 50 players registered for the event and the line-up will be very strong with GM Denis Kadric (2586), GM Nikita Petrov (2563), GM Nikola Djukic (2521), and GM Luka Draskovic (2485) headlining the field. The time control in the event is 90 minutes for 40 moves, plus 30 minutes until the end of the game, with a 30-second increment for each move. The Winner of the Championship will become Montenegro National Chess Champion for 2024, and wins the first prize of 3.500 euros.
