The BC Open Chess Tournament 2024 is set to take place from 17-19th February at the Grand Villa Ballroom, Delta Hotel, 4331 Dominion St, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.
The tournament format is 6-round Swiss across four sections – Premier (CFC and FIDE rated), U1800, U1400 and U1000 (CFC rated). Time control is 90 minutes + 30 seconds. The total prize fund is $8000 guaranteed, with $1200 reserved for the winner of Premier section.
An evening Blitz Tournament will be held on Sunday, February 18th at 7pm or as soon as round 4 finishes. 7-round Swiss with time control G/3+2. The prize fund is $650.
Registration Deadline: Before noon February 16th 2024 for classical, February 17th for Blitz Tournament.
Players must have CFC ID before the deadline of registration. All chess equipment will be provided by the organizer.
The event is organized by Greater Vancouver Chess Society and Penny Chess Club and the tournament director is Quang-Long Le.
