Hikaru Nakamura convincingly defeated Hans Niemann in the Speed Chess Championship Consolation Match.
After a tight 5+1 segment, where Nakamura held a 5-4 lead, he completely dominated the 3+1 segment, winning 7.5-1.5.
Entering the final 1+1 segment with a huge lead, Nakamura continued his momentum, securing a 8.5-3.5 win for an overall score of 21-9.
Yesterday, Nakamura was eliminated by Alireza Firouzja, while Niemann lost to Magnus Carlsen.
The Title Match between Carlsen and Firouzja will be held Sunday at 18:00 CET.
