GM Jinshi Bai triumphs at the Hong Kong International Chess Open 2024

The Hong Kong International Chess Open 2024 took place from 26th December to 2nd January at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wanchai, Hong Kong. The event was played in two sections: Open, and Challengers, with the main Open event being played in 9-swiss rounds with a prize pool of HK$99,000 (~12.000 eur).

A close battle came to an end with GM Jinshi Bai (China, 2551) emerging as the sole Winner of the event with the score of 7 points. Jinshi Bai was undefeated in the tournament and claimed the Winner’s prize of HK$40,000 (~5.000 euros). GM Sethuraman S.P. (India, 2586) trailed by half a point, clinching the second place, while as many as 9 players tied for third scoring 6 points each. Having best tiebreaks criteria, IM Li Bo (China, 2183) finished the event in the third place.

The event was organised by the Hong Kong China Chess Federation Limited, and funded by Hong Kong Special Administration Region Government Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
