The 29th Annual Bradley Chess Open took place from 26-28th July at the Sheraton Hartford Hotel at Bradley Airport, Windsor Locks, Connecticut, USA.
The event had five sections: Major (for players rated over 1900), Under 2100, Under 1800, Under 1500 and Under 1200. The top two sections are FIDE rated.
The tournament format was 5-round Swiss with the time control 40/80, SD/30, d30 (2-day option, rounds 1-2 G/60 d10).
The main Major Section had 53 participants. Grandmasters Fidel Corrales Jimenez and Jianchao Zhou shared the first place with 4.5/5 points each. Corrales Jimenez was declared winner on better tiebreak.
Corrales Jimenez shared his delight on instagram: “I am on a good winning streak! Won the Pacific Coast Chess Open last weekend and today I won the Bradley Open, scoring 9 out of 10 with 2 draws. I am very happy with both tournaments where I played very decent chess. Next for me is the US Chess Open In Virginia which is a qualifier for the US Championship 2024. Wish me luck!”
Under 2100 section had 76 participants. Luke Shin 1866 NJ is sole winner with 4.5/5 points.
Under 1800 section had 59 participants. Taimoor Syed 1738 NY and Noah Hinger 1593 NJ shared the first place with 4.5/5 points each.
Under 1500 section gathered 43 participants. Eric Ren 1249 CT won with the perfect 5/5 score.
Under 1200 section had 40 players. Greg Lee Davis 1167 PA tok the top prize with the perfect 5/5 score.
Major Section final standings:
1-2 GM Fidel Corrales Jimenez 2625 CA and GM Jianchao Zhou 2663 MA – 4.5
3-5 Joseph Zeltsan 2478 NY, Daniel Girsh 2341 PA and Ansh Milinkumar Shah 2332 NJ – 4.0
6-10 GM Mark Paragua 2525 NY, Nathaniel Philip Moor 2278 CT, Theodore Luke Slade 2261 FL, GM Alexander Ivanov 2508 MA and Qi Pang 2317 NY – 3.5 etc
The event had a $15,000 guaranteed prize fund.
