The FIDE World Blitz Chess Champion 2024 will be determined today in the knockout phase of the tournament! After 10 players tied for the top in the phase one, the tiebreak criteria determined eight of them to compete in the final knockout phase: GM Magnus Carlsen (Norway, 2890 blitz rating), GM Ian Nepomniachtchi (FIDE, 2770 blitz rating), GM Fabiano Caruana (USA, 2796 blitz rating), GM Wesley So (USA, 2803 blitz rating), GM Alireza Firouzja (France, 2871 blitz rating), GM Hans Niemann (USA, 2709 blitz rating), GM Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Poland, 2776 blitz rating), and GM Volodar Murzin (FIDE, 2629 blitz rating).
