European Women’s Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship 2023 starts in Monaco

The European Women’s Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship 2023 starts in Monte-Carlo, Monaco!

The first event on the schedule will be the Blitz Championship, taking place on the 12th of January. The event will be played in 13 single rounds (swiss system), with the time control of 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment. European Women’s Rapid Chess Championship 2023 will be played on 13-14 January with 11 rounds, swiss system, with the time control of 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment. The total prize fund of the events is 22.500 EUR.

More than 120 players from 24 European federations registered for the tournament, including former World Chess Champions: GM Alexandra Kosteniuk (SUI), GM Antoaneta Stefanova (BUL), GM Anna Ushenina (UKR), and GM Nona Gaprindashvili (GEO). Among the top seeds are world known players: GM Paehtz Elisabeth (GER), GM Pia Cramling (SWE), GM Bella Khotenashvili (GEO), IM Nurgyul Salimova (BUL), Sarasadat Khademalsharieh (ESP) etc.
