The 54th Annual Continental Chess Open 2024 is set to take place from 15-18th August at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel in Marlborough, Massachusetts, USA.
The event has seven sections: Premier (for players rated over 2000), Under 2100, Under 1900, Under 1700, Under 1500, Under 1300 and Under 1100. The top two sections are FIDE rated.
The tournament format is 7-round Swiss with the time control 40/80, SD/30, d30 (2-day option, rounds 1-2 G/60 d10). Under 1300 and Under 1100 are played on 17-18th August with time control G/60, d10.
The event has a $30,000 guaranteed prize fund.
Premier section: $3000-1500-800-400-300, clear or tiebreak win $100 bonus, top USCF U2300 $1300-700. FIDE rated.
Under 2100 Section: $2000-1000-500-300-200. FIDE rated.
Under 1900 Section: $2000-1000-500-300-200
Under 1700 Section: $2000-1000-500-300-200
Under 1500 Section: $1400-800-400-300-200
Under 1300 Section: $1400-800-400-300-200
Under 1100 Section: $800-500-300-200-100
Top rated players are GM Zhou Jianchao 2655 and GM Alexander Ivanov 2507.
