The Byron Capital Darling Downs Open 2024 is set to take place from 2-6th May at the Concordia Lutheran College in Harristown, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.
The event is organized by the Toowoomba Chess Club and sponsored by the Byron Capital Financial Advisors.
The Open will consist of three sections: Premier Division, Major Division and Minor Division. The total prize fund is $AUD 30,000.
Premier Division is a 9-rounds Swiss tournament with the time control 90min+30sec.
This section is a FIDE and ACF rated tournament with bigger prize money and opportunities for GM and IM Norms. Open to all players with an ACF or FIDE Rating 1900 and above.
Top prizes are $7,000/$4,000/$2,000/$1,200/$800 etc.
Major Division is a 7-rounds Swiss tournament with the time control 60min+30sec.
The Major is a FIDE and ACF rated tournament. Open to players with a 1200 ACF Rating and above.
Top prizes are $3,000/$1,500/$1,000/$700/$500 etc.
Minor Division is a 7-rounds Swiss tournament with the time control 60min+30sec.
The Minor is ACF rated tournament, open to players with an ACF Rating 1200 and below.
Top prizes are $1,500/$800/$500/$300/$200 etc.
