The 83rd edition of the Georgian Chess Championship took place from 29 January to 7 February at the Tbilisi Chess Palace in Tbilisi, Georgia.
GM Baadur Jobava emerged as the winner of the event scoring convincing 7/9 points, to be point and a half ahead of the runner-ups. Jobava clinched his fourth national champion title, after winning the Georgian Championship in 2003, 2007, and 2012.
GM Nikolozi Kacharava and GM Mikheil Mchedlishvili tied for second place scoring 5.5 points, each, but Nikolozi Kacharava clinched silver thanks to better tiebreak criteria, while Mikheil Mchedlishvili won bronze medal. Final rankings can be seen below.
The 83rd Georgian Chess Championship was played as a 10-player round-robin tournament, with the prize fund of 30.000 GEL (~10.500 EUR).
