The Spanish Chess Federation (FEDA) has announced a multi-year sponsorship agreement with B100 The Healthy Banking, the digital banking brand of ABANCA.
The official signing ceremony took place at the “Gambit café” in Madrid, attended by Jorge Mahía, Executive Director of B100, and Javier Ochoa de Echaguen, President of FEDA. Women’s Spanish Champion Marta García was also in attendance.
The agreement establishes B100 as the official and main sponsor of the federation, linking the brand with FEDA and the Spanish national teams across all competition categories for the coming years.
B100’s integration into the official tournament calendar will begin at the upcoming Spanish Championships, where the digital banking brand will be featured throughout the event ecosystem. According to FEDA officials, the partnership aims to support more competitions, expand chess programs in schools and clubs, and promote the game as a healthy habit that enhances intellectual capabilities.
The partnership arrives ahead of a milestone for the federation, as FEDA prepares to celebrate its centenary in 2027. During the signing ceremony, FEDA President Javier Ochoa de Echaguen highlighted the timing of the agreement:
“We are thrilled to welcome such an important partner as B100 to the project, at a key moment for the federation’s history and for the future of this sport, which is brighter and more exciting than ever.”
ABANCA is one of Spain’s major banking institutions, and this collaboration marks a significant corporate backing for Spanish chess as the federation transitions into its next century of activity.
