The US Chess Federation has updated the list of its sanctioned members, as announced by IA Chris Bird.
Grandmaster Christopher Yoo is given a 1-year suspension through 14th November 2025 and a 5-year probation until 14th November 2030.
Christopher Yoo was expelled from the U.S. Chess Championship after a gross violation of both the St Louis Chess Clubโs code of conduct and the US Chess safe play policy. Yoo teared up his scoresheet and struck a videographer.
The US Chess Federation reacted immediately to the Safe Play complaint and temporarily suspended Christopher Yooโs membership, until reaching the final decision on 14th November.
Christopher Yoo apologized for his “serious mistake”. His parents also issued a statement.
