The 1st Annual Capital Open is taking place from 27-29th September at the Executive Conference and Training Center in Dulles, Virginia, USA.
The event has five sections: Premier (FIDE-rated), Under 1900, Under 1600, Under 1300, and Under 1000.
The tournament format is 5-round Swiss with the time control G/100 d30.
The event has a $5,500 guaranteed prize fund.
Premier: $1300 for 1st, $550 for 2nd, $300 for 3rd
U1900: $1000 for 1st, $400 for 2nd, $100 for 3rd
U1600: $550 for 1st, $250 for 2nd, $100 for 3rd
U1300: $350 for 1st, $150 for 2nd
U1000: $300 for 1st, $150 for 2nd
115 players are registered to participate. Top rated are GM Tal Baron, IM Josiah Stearman, NM Vaibhav Kalpaka and NM Matthew Diao.
The 1st Annual Capital Open Scholastic Championship will be held from 28-29th September at the same venue.
There will be four sections: K-12, K-8, K-5, and K-3. Tournament format is 8 rounds with the time control 25 min + 5 sec.
