Bodhana Sivanandan: I want to be like a World Champion, like Carlsen

Nine-year-old England’s chess star Bodhana Sivanandan is the youngest player ever to represent England at the Chess Olympiad. In her round-8 post-game interview, Bodhana revealed she would like to be like Magnus Carlsen!

It feels great to play for England, it’s a really good experience, and it’s nice to play with all these strong players“, said Bodhana. Answering the question who is her favourite player, nine-year-old replayed: “Capablanca! Because of his endgames. And then I also want to be like a World Champion, like Carlsen! […] I am trying to become the youngest Grandmaster in the World, and also I want to become one of the greatest players of all time.“.

Bodhana also revealed more about her daily routine and how much she spends time working on chess: “Well, I go to school as well. So on a normal school day my school finishes at 16. Then I do school studies for a few hours, and then I do chess for around two hours.”
