The final event and signature tournament of the Grand Chess Tour circuit, the Sinquefield Cup 2024 will take place from 19-29th August at The World Chess Hall of Fame, 4652 Maryland Ave #1, Saint Louis, USA.
This event will feature nine full-tour players and one wildcard player, reigning World Champion Ding Liren from China. The total prize fund is $350,000. At the end of the tournament, a new tour champion will be crowned.
The playing format is a nine-round tournament with one round per day. Each player faces off against every other competitor throughout the tournament. Games are played at classical time controls and may last up to 6 hours each.
The tournament kicks off with huge excitement as World Champion Ding Liren faces his Challenger Gukesh D in the first round.

Alireza Firouzja triumphed in the previous event, the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz Chess Tournament. Earlier in the season, Fabiano Caruana won the two European events, Superbet Chess Classic Romania and Zagreb SuperUnited Rapid and Blitz.
