15-year-old Turkish International master Ediz Gurel (Turkey, 2560) will become the youngest Turkish player ever with the Grandmaster title!
Ediz Gurel emerged as the Winner of the Prague Chess Challengers 2024 which concluded today, and with the score of 6.5 points earned his third GM norm. Gurel fulfilled all the requirements to get the GM title, and once FIDE approves it, he will officially become Turkey’s youngest grandmaster ever!
Scoring 6.5 points in the Prague Chess Challengers 2024, Ediz Gurel performed with 2711 rating, earned 17 rating points and qualified himself for the next Prague Chess Masters. He finished half a point ahead of GM Jaime Santos Latasa (Spain, 2612) who came second with 6 points, while GM Erwin L’Ami (Netherlands, 2636) and GM Abhimanyu Mishra (USA, 2627) shared 3-4 place with 5.5 points.
