The 15th annual Southwest Class Chess Championships took place from 15-19 February in Irving, Texas, with 8 rating sections and $35,000 in prizes.
The main, Masters event, gathered more than 100 entries, including many titled players. Ranked 10th at the starting list, GM Gleb Dudin won the event scoring unbeaten 7/9 points. Draws in the last two rounds were enough for the tournament victory and Dudin pocketed a money-prize of $4,200. A group of six players tied for second place with the score of 6.5 points (each) and shared the prize of $7,100 in six equal parts: GM Robby Kevlishvili, IM Safal Bora, GM Fidel Corrales Jimenez, GM Dambasuren Batsuren, GM David Brodsky, and IM Shawn Rodrigue-Lemieux.
13-year old FM Tani Adewumi clinched his final IM norm with the score of 5,5/9 points. He only needs to reach FIDE elo of 2400 to complete the title requirements.
