The 2022 Hungarian National Chess Championship will take place from 5th-13th December 2022 in the premises of the Hungarian Chess Federation in Bucharest. The event will be ongoing simultaneously with the Hungarian Women’s Chess Championship 2022.
The Championship will be played as a 10-player round-robin tournament, in 9 rounds, with time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves, with 30 minutes for the end of the game, and a 30-second increment per each move, starting from the move one. A player wins 3 points for victory, 1 point for draw, and 0 points for a loss.
The total prize pool of the event is 5.850.000 HUF which is approximately 15.000$. The Winner of the event will claim the title of the Hungarian National Chess Champion and win the prize of 1.500.000 HUF, approximately 3.850$.
Eight-time Hungarian Chess Champion GM Ferenc Berkes, GM Peter Prohaszka and GM Gabor Papp are the top seeds of the tournament. Participants list:
