The 26th edition of the Open International d’Échecs de La Réunion will take place from October 10 to 17, 2026, at the Salle des Fêtes de Bellepierre in Saint-Denis, Réunion.

Organized by local club Échiquier du Nord and supported by the FIDE Open Aid Project, the event stands as a prominent annual chess gathering in the Indian Ocean region.

The tournament is recognized by the French Chess Federation (FFE) and FIDE, featuring a single nine-round Swiss open played under classical time controls of 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment per move.

Directed by Arbiter Martial Deurvillier, the competition offers a total prize fund of €4,000, including a €900 first prize alongside dedicated category awards for women, veterans (50+), and various Elo rating bands.

Participants will also benefit from a scheduled rest day on Tuesday, October 13, which includes an official evening blitz tournament.

To facilitate international participation, the organizers have arranged comprehensive hospitality options, including airport reception at Roland Garros Airport, accommodation guidance, and complimentary student-room housing for eligible players from the Indian Ocean region.
