The 2026 Toronto Chess Open concluded on September 7, 2026, following three days of intense competition over the Labor Day long weekend at St. Casimir’s Parish Hall in Toronto, Ontario.
Organized by the Annex Chess Club (ACC) under the auspices of the Chess Federation of Canada (CFC), the tournament was directed by Chief Arbiter IA Uttam Dhungel.
The flagship Crown Section featured 48 players competing over a 6-round Swiss system with a time control of 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment.
Grandmaster Razvan Preotu delivered a stellar performance to capture clear first place, scoring an impressive 5.5/6 points. Preotu claimed the guaranteed $1,500 top prize and the championship title.
The total prize fund across five rating divisions, Crown, Under 2200, Under 1900, Under 1600, and Under 1300, was $7,000.
