The 38th edition of the prestigious Torneo Internacional de Ajedrez “Ciudad de Dos Hermanas” was held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Dehesa de Valme Municipal Building in the Seville metropolitan area.

The event drew a large field of 151 players who competed over 8 rounds of Swiss tournament with the time control 8 min + 3 sec.

Mexican Grandmaster Jose Eduardo Martinez Alcantara dominant performance earned him clear first place in the final standings. The tournament’s top seed finished with an outstanding 7.5 points out of 8 rounds, giving up only a single draw while capturing 7 individual victories. For his undisputed tournament win, Martinez Alcantara takes home the champion’s trophy along with the €900 gross top cash prize.

Following closely behind, Spanish Grandmaster David Anton Guijarro secured solo second place with 7.0 points. A three-way tie at 6.5 points rounded out the top five positions, with Cuban International Master Lennis Martinez Ramirez taking third place on tiebreaks, followed by fellow Cuban IM Roberto Carlos Gomez Ledo in fourth and Spanish GM Ibragim Khamrakulov finishing fifth.

The tournament was supervised by Technical Director Juan Jose Hidalgo Mateos and Technical Coordinator Jose Antonio Fernandez Rodriguez. Results from the day are officially valid for both Andalusian Chess Federation (FADA) and international FIDE Rapid ELO ratings.

The event distributed a total gross cash prize fund of €3,850. To support the local chess community, the organizers allocated dedicated cash tiers for the highest-performing players from Dos Hermanas.
