13-year-old Melika Mohammadi became the Iranian Women’s Chess Champion 2023 after emerging as the sole winner of the Iranian National Championship for Women. The event was played as a 14-player round-robin, from 11-21 May in Kerman, simultaneously with the 56th Iranian Chess Championship for Men.
The youngest participant of the Championship, Melika Mohammadi scored impressive 10/13 points, without a single loss, finishing a full point ahead of Parva Behzad Nazif who claimed silver with 9 points. WFM Mitra Asgharzadeh came third with the score of 8.5 points.
