103rd Irish Chess Championship 2024

The 103rd Irish Chess Championship is scheduled to take place from 3-11th August at The Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan, Dublin.

Players rated 1900 or above on any published FIDE or ICU list in 2024, prior to the close of entries, meet the rating requirement for the main 9-day event.

The current Irish Womenโ€™s, 50+, and 65+ champions, all former Irish champions, up to two ICU nominees and up to one organiser nominee are exempt from the rating requirement.

The tournament format is 9-round Swiss and the event will be rated with FIDE.

The total prize fund is 4000 EUR, with 1500 EUR reserved for the champion. Tournament website here.

Major 1650-2000, Challenger โ‰ค 1700 (ICU). 5-round FIDE-rated events.
โ‚ฌ 2,000 combined prize fund.

Weekday Open:
Monday, August 5โ€”Friday, August 9, 2024.
5-round FIDE-rated open event (by rating). โ‚ฌ 800 prize fund.

Open Weekender:
Friday, August 9โ€”Sunday, August 11, 2024.
5-round FIDE-rated open event (by rating). โ‚ฌ 1,500 prize fund.
Rate of play for all classical events: 90 minutes with a 30 second increment.

Irish Rapid Chess Championship:
Sunday, August 4, 2024.
6-round FIDE-rated open event (by rating). Registration 6.30pm. Round 1 7pm, finishing before 10pm. โ‚ฌ 600 prize fund. Free parking at venue.
Rate of play: 10 minutes with a 5 second increment.

Irish Blitz Chess Championship:
Sunday, August 11, 2024.
11-round FIDE-rated open event (by rating). Registration 6.30pm. Round 1 7pm, finishing before 10pm. โ‚ฌ 600 prize fund. Free parking at venue.
Rate of play: 3 minutes with a 2 second increment.
