The 56th Annual Atlantic Chess Open 2024 took place from 23-25th August at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC, USA.
The event had seven sections: Major (for players rated over 1900), Under 2100, Under 1900, Under 1700, Under 1500, Under 1300 and Under 1000. The top two sections are FIDE rated.
The tournament format was 5-round Swiss with the time control 40/80, SD/30, d30 (2-day option, rounds 1-2 G/60 d10).
The main Major Section had 47 participants. Grandmasters Zhou Jianchao 2655, Viktor Gazik 2629 and Robby Kevlishvili 2614 shared the first place with 4/5 points each.
Under 2100 section had 41 participants. Marzouq Chowdhury 2046 NY convincingly won this section with perfect 5/5 points.
Under 1900 section had 43 participants. Taimoor Syed 1777 NY was the sole winner with 4.5/5 points.
Under 1700 section attracted 38 players. Malik Antonio Castro 1693 DC crushed the opposition to finish the event with the perfect score.
Under 1500 section had 33 players. Elijah Chirico 1309 PA was convincing with 5/5 points.

The event had a $30,000 guaranteed prize fund.
