The 2024 Northumbria Masters Chess Congress was held from 22-26th August at the Dolphin Centre in Darlington, UK.
The Congress consisted of two FIDE rated invitational tournaments and three FIDE rated 9-round Swiss tournaments:
The main Masters group was open to all players and eligible for FIDE title norms. 60 players competed in this section. In a closely contested race GM Frode Urkedal (Norway), IM Jung Min Seo (Sweden) and GM Oleg Korneev (Spain) shared the first place with 6.5/9 points each.
The Challengers group was reserved for the players rated Under 2000. This section had 47 participants. Lewis A Turner ENG 1955 was convincing winner with 8/9 points.
The Major group gathered 25 players rated Under 1700. John Aanuoluwapo Awesome NGR 1668 and Alfie Mcmonagle ENG 0 shared the first place with 7.5/9 points each.
